About the Author - Mellissa Sweet:

Melissa Sweet said that trying to write this, her first book, was initially like walking around the Library of Congress. But then a love of words (like pluck, dawdle, trouble, and voila) took over. She is the illustrator of many fine children’s books, including The Boy Who Drew Birds and Girls Think of Everything and its companion, The Sky’s the Limit. Reviewers have described her unique mixed-media illustrations as “exuberant”, “outstanding”, and “a creative delight”. Red in all of its hues - scarlet, carmine, fuscia - remains her favorite color. She lives in Rockport, Maine with her family and dog, Rufus.
